Proof Reader's mark
The misprint gremlin which is actually a typo gremlin
errors are human made. That is why everything should be proof read, to make sure, that everything is correct and understandable. To beat the misprint gremlin we have normed proof reader's marks. In the age of digital created text, graphics and pictures there are nevertheless some problems.
- Our computer can not handle proof reader's marks right away. However, for Acrobat there are 3rd-party plugins (with additional costs) available.
- What about proof reader's marks for a messy picture-composition?
- Today "everybody" can do a graphic hard copy, but you can not expect from someone to learn all proof reader's mark, who is not in practice every day. The one who are doing it for a living better should learn them.
You should always pay attention to the following:
Doing corrections should not be a hide-and-seek-game!
Mark every error clear, obvious, systematically!
All corrections should be marked clear, next to the line or picture. If there is no room, make a reference!
